An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Oxford Liver Unit for a HCC Surveillance Pathway Navigator. We are looking to appoint an individual with a passion for data and someone who is willing to be part of a forward-thinking team and will contribute to its ongoing success.

The HCC Surveillance Pathway Navigator will be an integral part of the Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist team. This role will predominantly focus on delivering a comprehensive Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) Surveillance Programme for patients with conditions including Cirrhosis/Advanced Fibrosis/Hepatitis B. The aim of the programme is to establish a centralised surveillance register, creating an effective call / recall system and implementing support mechanisms to help eligible patients attend their ultrasound appointments. Success measures will be recorded in a robust HCC surveillance database.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with all members of the clinical and non-clinical team and will provide data management service across the HCC surveillance programme.

There will be a requirement to analyse data on an ad hoc request basis as well as the regular data analysis required to report to the Cancer Alliance. The work requires initiative, accuracy, attention to detail and excellent time management to enter data into a trust wide database.

Main duties of the job

Database Management & Development

- Manage and develop the HCC Surveillance database and liaise with the HCC CNS and Advanced Clinical Practitioner to establish data output requirements.

- Responsible for the collection of data and sample information, including querying data within relevant databases.

- To correlate required variables, design the conditionality and manage the data input associated with upgrades in the clinical database.

- To maintain system security. Manage access control and security of the database(s)

- To ensure all authorised users can access the system and maintain and issue appropriate user rights.

- Use regular data quality checks to verify integrity of system data and take appropriate actions for the database.

- Analyse, report, and present system data.

- To comply with current data protection legislation.

- Where commitments allow, support the Clinical Nurse Specialists to collect and analyse data for service development as appropriate.
