Job description
Role:
To support the General Manager and Wellbeing Lead in the provision of a varied and innovative activity programme to meet residents needs and provide meaningful and purposeful activities and assist our residents to maintain a high quality of social engagement and to support in all aspects of personnel life choices.
Duties:
The post is situated within a care setting which provides Residential, Nursing and Dementia care. The post holder will deliver a range of both individual and group activities to a diverse range of residents and support events and fundraisers within the home and the wider community.
The post holder will work within a team and independently when required.
The post holder should preferably have training and experience in working supportively with persons living with Dementia, although strong applicants who can undertake the relevant training will also be considered.
Daily Practice:
To support the Wellbeing Lead in the delivery of exercises and the delivery of fun and engaging activities, promoting social engagement within our communities.
· Attend and contribute to relevant courses and workshops.
· Continually update and develop skills, utilising training opportunities.
· Complete all essential training.
· Engage in regular supervision.
· Plan and deliver community trips/ outings within the local and wider community.
· To be professionally responsible for all aspects of work, ensuring high standards are achieved and maintained, with an enthusiastic, proactive and energetic approach.
· To undertake any other duties that would be a reasonable expectation of the role e.g. session cover.
Skills:
Working with residents who may have impaired communication skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Maintains strict confidentiality of resident information at all times in accordance with Opus Care Ltd policy.
Has a sensitive awareness of diverse cultural and learning needs, including language barriers to understanding.
Ability to motivate and encourage residents in Leisure and Wellbeing activities.
Experience of guiding older adults with a range of physical and cognitive disabilities.
A good understanding and experience of maintaining and evidencing written records and reports.
Has a clear understanding of session delivery e.g. Preparation, Delivery, Record Keeping.
Ability to listen to residents with fluctuating behaviours and meet their needs where possible.
Physical Skills:
Ability to undertake and complete mandatory training in Manual Handling and First Aid.
To have the ability to effectively deliver a leisure and wellbeing session that requires a good level of fitness.
To be able to support residents around the home. E.g. pushing wheelchairs, supporting out of a chair.
To be able to use a keyboard/computer on a daily basis to input data, reports and assessments.
Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the home, including the possibility of weekends on a rotational basis.

Pay: £12.21 per hour
