Role Overview
My client is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of 66 kV and 132 kV electrical systems, with a strong focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role will cover behind–the–meter, low voltage, and high voltage battery applications, supporting projects from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Engineering
* Develop electrical designs for 66 kV and 132 kV systems, including primary and secondary plant.
* Produce electrical layouts, single–line diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules for battery energy storage systems.
* Design and integrate LV, MV, and HV battery systems, including:
o Behind–the–meter BESS
o Grid–scale BESS
o Hybrid renewable + storage systems
* Specify and size electrical equipment including:
o Transformers
o Switchgear (LV, MV, HV)
o Protection systems
o Inverters and power conversion systems (PCS)
* Support grid connection applications and technical submissions.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
* Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
* Proven experience in electrical design at 66 kV and/or 132 kV.
* Strong experience with battery energy storage systems, including:
o Behind–the–meter BESS
o LV and HV battery installations
* Experience producing detailed electrical design documentation.
* Good understanding of grid connection processes and protection principles.
