Are you a technically minded relationship builder who loves turning engineering expertise into real-world customer solutions?
We’re working with a leading UK designer and manufacturer of food processing machinery, supplying innovative, high-quality systems to some of the biggest names in the food and beverage industry. With a turnover of around £15M and strong growth ahead, they’re now looking to appoint an Applications Engineer / Account Manager to help drive the next phase of expansion.
The Role
This is a hybrid role combining technical applications engineering and commercial account management — ideal for someone who thrives on variety and wants to stay close to both the engineering and customer sides of the business.
You will:
* Work closely with food manufacturing customers to understand their production challenges and translate these into tailored machinery and system solutions.
* Prepare proposals, specifications, and quotations in collaboration with our design and project teams.
* Manage key customer relationships, ensuring projects are delivered to expectation and exploring opportunities for future growth.
* Support the sales team with technical input during tenders and site visits.
* Contribute to product development feedback and system design improvements based on customer insight.
You’ll report to the Sales Director and work alongside engineering, design, and project management teams to ensure customer solutions are technically sound and commercially viable.
About You
You’ll be a confident communicator with strong technical grounding — comfortable discussing complex systems with engineers one minute and building rapport with customers the next.
We’re looking for someone with:
âś… Experience in the food industry (equipment, systems, or process environment).
âś… Background in mechanical engineering, system design, or a related technical discipline.
âś… Proven ability to manage customer relationships and deliver commercial outcomes.
âś… Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
âś… The drive to take ownership and contribute to a growing, ambitious business.
A degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) would be advantageous, but experience and attitude matter most.
