With 16 production sites and 9 R&D centers, we support over 1,500 customers worldwide Reference 2025-1669 Job Family / Sub-family Industrial - Engineering Contract type Permanent Job title Control Systems (DCS) Engineer Position Context: Reporting to the Project & Engineering Manager Main tasks : • Primary contact for day-to-day Control Systems issues • Providing technical reports and feedback relating to Control Systems problems • Provide Control Systems troubleshooting and technical support to the Maintenance and Project teams • Generation of alarm analysis reports and KPI updates associated with alarm performance in line with EEMUA 191 • Assist the C&I Engineer with the selection, procurement, design, installation and commissioning of new instrumentation and DCS / PLC Systems on both new and existing Plants, including Safety Instrumented Systems, for mostly ‘Hazardous Area’ Plants • Assist with the planning and execution of modifications and upgrades to existing instrumentation and Control Systems, including the recommendation of upgrade strategies for DCS Systems • Assist in the development of the annual capital and maintenance budgets, with due consideration to “Ageing Plant” issues • Supporting the C&I Engineer and Maintenance Manager to ensure the Middlesbrough and Billingham Control Systems and I&E equipment are maintained in compliance with company processes, EH&S standards, design standards and maintenance standards • Supervising DCS (Distributed Control System) related contractors performing agreed activities on both sites, ensuring all EH&S processes including Permit to Work, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Management of Change are followed • Develop relationships with DCS service providers & suppliers to optimise control systems performance • Review and implement (via the Management of Change process) minor improvements to control and operational systems identified by Alarm Management Team, Plant Managers, E&I Compliance Team, etc. • Assisting with the development of Control Systems related maintenance procedures and operating practices • Working as part of a team with other Engineering, Maintenance and Operations personnel and management • Working as a team member to deliver awareness training for the operation of DCS Systems and compliance with C&I standards Required skills : Strong organisational, leadership and management skills Excellent performance in project management Good communication skills. Fully conversant with Health and Safety issues, Codes of practice, national standards and COMAH Regulations relevant to Control & Instrumentation Good understanding of strategic planning and turnaround activities. Recognised Instrumentation qualification Desired Skills Exposure to a chemical manufacturing environment Good I.T. skills to utilise various department software systems CompEx Foundation and/or Certification training Functional Safety Engineer SIS certification Experience of ABB 800xA DCS and/or Emerson DeltaV DCS programming At Seqens Custom Specialties, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
