Practice Manager / Accountant

A long-established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice based in Ilkley is seeking an experienced Practice Manager / Accountant to join the business during an exciting period of growth and development. This is a varied, client-facing role suited to a qualified or part-qualified ACCA or ACA accountant who enjoys managing client relationships, reviewing technical work, and supporting the day-to-day operations of a busy practice environment. The firm works with a loyal local client base across sectors including property, farming, retail, and personal investments. The role offers a blend of technical accounting responsibilities alongside practice management and team coordination duties.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing workflow within the practice, reviewing accounts prepared by the offshore accounts preparation team, and ensuring work is completed accurately and delivered efficiently to clients.
Responsibilities will include:
•Reviewing statutory accounts prepared by the internal offshore accounts team
•Reviewing and overseeing VAT returns and personal tax work
•Managing workflow and supporting the operational running of the practice
•Acting as a key point of contact for clients and maintaining strong relationships
•Meeting with clients to discuss accounts and business matters
•Liaising regularly with the accounts preparation team based overseas
•Ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met
•Supporting partners with practice management and process improvements
•Assisting with client queries and providing practical accounting support and advice
Candidate Requirements
•ACA or ACCA qualified or part-qualified (or QBE)
•Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
•Strong experience reviewing accounts and managing client portfolios
•Comfortable working in a client-facing role
•Organised and commercially minded with the ability to manage multiple priorities
•Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships
•Experience overseeing or coordinating workflow within a practice environment would be advantageous
•Knowledge of VAT and personal tax compliance
