The Ophthalmology Department at Peterborough, Stamford, Hinchingbrooke (and other sites) seeks a full‑time consultant with a specialist interest in Glaucoma to join a multidisciplinary team providing optimal care across the Huntingdon, Stamford, Peterborough, Ely and Fenland areas.
Key features of the service include shared community schemes, collaborations with optometrists, expanded roles for nurses and other non‑medical health‑care professionals, a strong research programme and a robust IT infrastructure that supports innovative solutions such as virtual clinics.
Appointments will be at any of the three hospitals in the Trust and include an on‑call commitment as outlined in the job plan.
Responsibilities
* Manage day‑to‑day clinic operations, ensuring out‑patient services are covered during planned absences.
* Provide ongoing care of patients and delegate responsibilities to, and train, staff appropriately.
* Coordinate the training of medical staff, hospital‑based optometrists and orthoptists within the Glaucoma service.
* Participate in shared‑care episodes, offering advice and support to clinicians in other services for patients with combined ocular problems.
* Contribute to the Medical Advisory Committee and serve on other hospital committees as required.
* Engage in clinical governance, audit and meet annual Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Trust training and CPD requirements.
* Take part in the Trust’s appraisal scheme.
