The Role
We’re working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Norfolk to recruit a Quality Engineer to support the day-to-day quality function.
The role has been created to provide hands-on quality support across day-to-day activities. You’ll take ownership of quality issues as they arise, working closely with suppliers, production and internal teams to resolve non-conformances and support continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a broad quality background who is comfortable getting involved on the shop floor and working across multiple quality activities rather than sitting in a narrow or heavily siloed remit.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Managing non-conforming product, including raising and closing NCRs and concessions
Working directly with suppliers on quality issues, corrective actions and improvement plans
Carrying out internal QHSE audits and supporting CAPA activity
Supporting and maintaining the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
Improving manufacturing control through process review and quality documentation
Leading and maintaining the calibration system
Liaising with customers and internal teams to define and meet product quality requirements
Producing quality documentation such as APQP, PPAP, FAIR, 8D and ISIR reports
Supporting monthly quality, environment, health and safety KPI reporting What We’re Looking For Essential
Experience in a manufacturing or engineering quality role (breadth of exposure is key)
Practical experience dealing with NCRs, concessions and supplier quality issues
Good understanding of manufacturing processes
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
Comfortable being hands-on and supporting issue resolution, not just reporting Desirable
Automotive or similarly regulated manufacturing background
Experience working with ISO 9001 and other management systems (IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 14001)
Internal or Lead Auditor qualification
Exposure to ERP systems and Microsoft Power tools The Environment
This is a pragmatic, operational quality role within a growing engineering business where flexibility is important. You’ll be expected to work across multiple quality areas and support problem-solving at source rather than operating within rigid role boundaries.
