Senior Support Worker - DBIT West

The Divisional Based Intervention (D‑BIT) Service provides solution‑focused interventions for families with children and young people aged 8‑17, helping them stay together safely. This role works mainly in homes and communities with families, providing intensive, time‑limited support and liaising with other agencies. The team works across the four quadrants of the Children and Families Service.
Accountabilities
* Provide solution‑focused interventions with whole families, working collaboratively with D‑BIT colleagues.
* Maintain close links with other agencies and services to ensure consistent and non‑duplicative support.
* Write reports for relevant meetings and contribute to the overall family intervention plan.
* Attend Child in Need and Child Protection meetings, aiding in planning and outcome assessment.
* Maintain high professional standards to build confidence in the social work service.
* Collaborate with D‑BIT colleagues, frontline social workers, managers and other professionals to improve outcomes.
* Participate in professional supervision as per policy and D‑BIT processes.
The Experience You Will Bring
* NVQ Level 3 – Caring for Children and Young People or equivalent.
* Knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
* Familiarity with the Essex Safeguarding Children Board procedures.
* Experience or interest in the Solution Focused approach.
* Experience in supportive relationships with children, young people and families.
* Experience in planning activities for children, young people and parents.
* Knowledge of child development.
* Understanding of factors impacting families such as poverty, disability and bereavement.
* First Aid certificate (desirable).
Additional Requirements
* Driving licence and access to a vehicle, or other means to meet mobility requirements.
* Role may require DBS check; responsibility for DBS update service.
* Occasional work on Saturdays when required for families.
