Customer Proof of Concepts Engineer
Join Cisco’s Global Demonstration Engineering team as a Customer Proof of Concepts Engineer. This role delivers innovative, demonstration‑centric experiences to Cisco’s customers, helping them realize the productivity and business gains from Cisco solutions. You’ll work across the Datacenter, Enterprise Networking, and Service Provider domains, designing, building, and delivering Proof of Concept (POC) labs for both internal and external audiences.
Position Summary
The Proof‑of‑Concept Engineer supports the full life cycle of POC lab engagements, from initial concept to final delivery. You’ll collaborate with business units, content developers, partners, and customers, coordinating planning, design, build, test, and support of POC environments.
Job Responsibilities
* Project Management (10%) – Identify and prioritize all project‑related tasks, communicate goals and objectives at all organizational levels, and ensure third‑party developers report status effectively.
* Engineering (50%) – Design, develop, document, and deliver a wide range of technical content. Meet with account teams, EMs, content developers, partners, and customers to capture requirements and build a test plan that meets POC objectives. Serve as the primary engineer throughout introduction, build, test, and delivery phases.
* Platform Design (20%) – Document and plan projects before the build phase, using Visio, PowerPoint, and MS Project. Justify all designs in front of peer groups.
* Support (10%) – Act as first point of contact for all escalations, working with account teams, partners, and customers. Escalate unresolved issues, track fixes, and update the support knowledge base.
* Other (5%) – Serve as a third‑party liaison and an independent content developer.
Candidate Requirements
* CCNP/CCIE level or equivalent experience
* Strong Routing, Switching, and Security background
* Proficiency in OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, DMVPN, IPSec, NAT, TrustSec, LISP, VXLAN, EVPN, 802.1x, etc.
* Cisco Datacenter technologies – ACI, VXLAN, Nexus Dashboard
* Cisco Catalyst SD‑WAN – Controller deployment, on‑premise and cloud, template & policy management, multi‑cloud On‑Ramp
* Cisco software‑defined access – Catalyst Center, provisioning, SWIM, templates, SDA fabric
* Cisco service provider – SRv6, BNG, EVPN, CNC, NSO, PTP, SyncE
* Cloud networking – AWS, Azure, GCP, Microsoft Office 365
* Virtual infrastructure experience – VMware vCenter and VMs
* Testing tools – Spirent, Cyberflood, Avalanche, Ixia, Keysight, WAN emulation
* Optional Cisco product knowledge – NGFW, ISE, Stealthwatch, Meraki, Thousand Eyes, Umbrella, Threat Defense, Defense Orchestrator, Cyber Vision, Office 365
* Proven project delivery record, strong project and time‑management skills
* Basic programming and scripting in Go, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, XML, SQL, etc.
* Basic web development and scripting
