Band 3 Physiotherapy Clinical Support Worker
Acute Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team
Work Hours and Contract
37 hours per week, Permanent. As of 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata, with a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so pay will not be affected.
Key Responsibilities
* Work alongside physiotherapists and other physiotherapy support workers within the Orthopaedic team.
* Assume a delegated patient caseload under the qualified physiotherapist, progressing patients, reassessing and discharging within scope of practice and under the supervision of the ward physiotherapist.
* Engage fully with the multidisciplinary team on the ward.
* Support the team through non‑clinical duties such as equipment ordering, referring patients to primary care teams, and assisting with statistical information collation for patient activity audit purposes.
* Participate in the weekend rota, with a participation frequency of approximately 1:9.
* Support physiotherapy services staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities.
Key Qualifications & Experience
* Evidence of experience teaching prescribed exercise programmes, gait re‑education, general rehabilitation skills and administrative tasks.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, with an ability to work alone or with others.
* Experience working on wards in an acute hospital setting is ideal.
* Previous experience as a physiotherapy assistant or within the physiotherapy profession is beneficial.
* Highly competent computer‑based tasks and administrative duties.
Additional Requirements
* The post requires the holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record; if not a current member, an application to Disclosure Scotland and a satisfactory check will be required before commencing.
* Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, the role may require a different level of criminal records check; if assessed as a regulated role, appointment will be subject to the PVG Scheme.
* Visa sponsorship is available under SOC 2221 (Physiotherapy); candidates must meet eligibility criteria and salary thresholds.
