We are looking for a sonographer to join Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust across St Helens and Knowsley sites.
Site: St Helens and Knowsley sites (Prescot). Salary: £49,387 – £56,515 per annum pro rata. Hours: 30 hours per week, permanent, part time, covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Contract: Band 7, AfC.
Job Overview
This role involves performing obstetric and non-obstetric ultrasound examinations across two hospital sites (Whiston Hospital and St Helens Hospital) and four community sites (St Helens Millennium Centre, Newton Community Hospital, Widnes Urgent Care Centre and St Helens Lowe House). The sonographer will also be involved in training and mentorship of student sonographers and support for clinical placement at the University of Cumbria’s MSc programme.
Key Responsibilities
* Independently perform ultrasound examinations and clinically interpret the images.
* Deliver high‑quality scans in accordance with department protocols.
* Supervise and teach junior staff and medical staff.
* Maintain current knowledge of ultrasound techniques and a CPD portfolio.
* Provide service for seven‑day working, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Qualifications
* Recognition graduate ultrasound qualification – PgCert, PgDip or DMU.
* Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
* Healthcare Professions Council registration (or equivalent).
