Job Title: Breeze Event Worker

Hours: Casual

Salary: A1 – C1 £12.69 per hour - £15.58 per hour

Contract: Casual

Location: Various locations

We are looking for people with a variety of skills to work on event set up, acting or with children and young people, to help deliver Halloween and Christmas events at Lotherton Hall with the Breeze team and the wider Arts Events and Venues section.

The skills below are in demand, you don't need to have all of these skills and experience, but you will need to have some of them

* Experience of arts & crafts delivery with children
* Theatre performance background
* Practical/hands on - with experience of set up, and derig of an outdoor event

Hours of work may vary from day to day, project to project.

There are several staff roles available within the categories below;

Event Build

We are looking for practical minded people with experience of working on event set up or with electrical or joinary skills. Sept to end of November and January and February.

Event Delivery

We are looking for enthusastic, outgoing staff either in theatrical roles during our teen Halloween scare event (October half term), or as an elf at The Christmas Experience (21 Nov to 24 Dec), or to deliver arts and crafts activities to children at Christmas.

Job purpose

* To assist in the delivery of Youth events and activities as directed by the Breeze Team and The Arts and Events Team and other nominated staff from Directorate of City Development.

Responsibilities

* To assist in the delivery of young people's events and activities.
* To work with and build relationships with young people and encourage them to participate in arts, sports, and cultural activities.
* To facilitate young people's informal learning, and their personal and social development.
* To work as part of a team.
* To report to and liaise with the Breeze Team and other nominated staff.
* To assist with administrative tasks to support programme delivery e.g., sessional registers, undertaking consultations with the public, dealing with visitor queries, assisting with Breeze Pass queries etc
* To assist with the physical build of infrastructure at the events
* To supervise young people's safe use of equipment and engagement with activities.
* To carry out the above duties in compliance with Council policies including Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health and safety and where appropriate, National Governing Body Codes of Conduct.

Qualifications Evidence of all qualifications will be required

Essential requirements It is essential that the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following criteria for the post. Candidates will only be shortlisted for interview if they can demonstrate that they meet all the essential requirements.

* Ability to establish relationships and maintain dialogue with young people.
* Ability to identify and respond to the needs of young people.
* Ability to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour.
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of people individually and in groups and at all appropriate levels.
* Ability to inspire and motivate young people to participate in arts, sports, and cultural activities.
* Ability to set up and take down areas and equipment to deliver young people's activities and events.
* Understanding of a range of differing approaches to Youth provision.
* Knowledge of issues affecting young people.
* Knowledge of safeguarding issues in relation to young people.
* Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection
* Knowledge of Risk assessments and health and safety guidelines
* Experience of working with young people either in a school or out of school environment
* Experience of working within a team setting.
* Experience of supervising people in a voluntary or paid position
* Able to demonstrate flexibility and be able to work in a variety of situations and settings across the city.
* Willing to work unsociable hours.
* Able to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision.

Desirable requirements It is desirable that the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following criteria for the post. Candidates are not required to meet all the desirable requirements however these may be used to distinguish between candidates.

* First Aid qualification.
* A current National governing body coaching or leadership award.
* Level 1 or 2 qualification in working with young people.
* Relevant qualifications in the arts
* Experience of working in a holiday activity type programme
* Experience of running craft/sports workshops
