Responsibilities
We seek to appoint an enthusiastic Paediatrician with general skills, expertise, and the confidence to manage a wide variety of acute and chronic paediatric and neonatal conditions. The post offers the opportunity to develop a special interest to complement the department's needs. A special interest in epilepsy, oncology, or cardiology would be desirable, but other interests are welcome. You will join a friendly, experienced, and supportive team of consultants. The main responsibilities include:
* Diagnosis and treatment of referred patients
* Ongoing responsibility for patients in your charge
* Supervising and managing junior staff
* Contributing to service planning and target delivery
* Efficient resource management

Essential experience includes General Paediatrics and Neonatology. The appointee will participate in the consultant on-call rota, typically 1 in 6.8 nights and weekends, with departmental job plans possibly including days without allocated activities to maintain a 10 PA contract.
The department operates on a 7-week rota, with duties including neonatal stabilization, retrieval, and transfer, as well as clinical and educational activities. The candidate must be on the GMC Specialist Register, hold a CCT, or be within 6 months of obtaining it, or be an established Consultant.
