The Role
As a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader, you will lead a team of Grounds Maintenance Operatives across a defined geographical area, ensuring high‑quality delivery of maintenance tasks through effective team management, motivation, and technical support. Reporting to the Grounds Maintenance Manager, you will coordinate work in line with planned schedules and act as the main point of contact for internal and external customers.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
* Lead, support, and performance‑manage a team of Grounds Maintenance Operatives, including temporary workers, ensuring high standards of conduct and attendance.
* Develop, organise, and oversee daily work schedules to deliver the maintenance plan across multiple sites.
* Carry out and supervise physically demanding outdoor tasks, ensuring quality and efficiency.
* Use corporate and Grounds Maintenance-specific IT systems to maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records.
* Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with site teams and customers, resolving queries and complaints professionally.
* Manage and monitor all Grounds Maintenance equipment, ensuring it is safely operated, well maintained, and securely stored.

What You’ll Bring
* Recognised grounds maintenance qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, Lantra) and strong technical horticultural knowledge.
* Sound understanding of Health and Safety processes, including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Work Authorisation procedures.
* Experience using a wide range of grounds maintenance equipment, including ride‑on, remote, and pedestrian machinery.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and people‑management skills, with the ability to motivate and coordinate remote teams.
* Strong IT proficiency (including Microsoft Office), combined with effective planning, organisation, and time‑management capabilities.
A full UK driving licence is required for this role
