Architectural Designer (12 month FTC) – Stella McCartney
Overview
Reporting into the Global Director Store Design & Visual Merchandising, this role will execute renders and plans for new store openings across Retail and Wholesale, and assist in the execution of Visual Merchandising displays including window designs, pop-ups and in-store props. The role delivers all projects on time, within budget, to agreed brand design and quality standards and in line with best practice, and compliant with Health & Safety standards, building regulations and landlord requirements, while following Stella McCartney's visual language.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract as a maternity cover, starting in December 2025.
Your Mission
* Execution, design, development and implementation of Stella McCartney stores worldwide.
* Support the design and development of new showroom/office spaces.
* Develop design intent packs for external partners on the execution of store globally.
* Review and approve specific drawings from 3rd party partners within the rollout process.
* Assist with negotiating with key suppliers and contractors; calendar management across all design and construction projects.
* Ensure designs are cost-effective, in line with budget and sustainability goals.
* Assist in reviewing business contracts.
* Build strong relationships and partner with the project management team.
* Work closely with the Director of Store Design and Visual Merchandising to ensure adherence to brand language and standards.
* Relate building design concepts to building codes, zoning ordinances and other external issues.
* Consult with manufacturers; research and propose materials and products.
* Prepare and create presentation drawings and graphics to assist with internal and external presentations.
Your Talent
* Previous architectural design experience in luxury brands and fit-out project management; understanding of in-house retail design processes preferred.
* Proficiency in store concept design, rendering and fixture drawings.
* Ability to manage and develop external relationships with millworkers, general contractors, local architects and external partners.
* Ability to collaborate with regional offices and HQ teams (commercial, legal, facilities, VM, CID, Finance, etc.).
* Sound understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
* Technically competent, with ability to read, assess and apply design specifications.
* Good understanding of property management, lease obligations and maintenance.
* Excellent time and project management, design quality control skills.
* Experience in store planning, layouts, merchandising and translating flagship retail concepts to secondary stores and shop-in-shop rollouts preferred.
