Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to work within the Adult Speech & Language Therapy team at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby. Your role will be to support Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) provision across in-patient settings, working closely with the SLTs and others in the multi-disciplinary team.
Responsibilities
* Support SLT provision across in-patient settings, working closely with SLTs and multidisciplinary team members.
* Work flexibly across both swallowing and communication caseloads, liaising closely with ward staff, patients, and families/carers.
* Take case histories from medical notes, carry out exercises for speech and swallowing, and provide communication therapy, including support with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.
* Support assessment and delivery of speech and language therapy to adult inpatients with a range of acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders, providing direct clinical input and completing related clerical tasks.
* Work autonomously under the supervision of a registered Speech & Language Therapist (SLT), across SLT clinical teams at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital.
* Support the Speech & Language Therapy Department to deliver an efficient and effective service in line with guidance from the Team Lead, Clinical Expert, Specialist Speech & Language Therapists, the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists, the Health and Care Professions Council, and Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
Qualifications & Experience
Successful applicants must be able to work flexibly across swallowing and communication caseloads, liaising closely with ward staff, patients, and families/carers. Experience in supporting clinical team activities and working autonomously under supervision of an SLT is essential.
