Full-Time History Teacher Required - Outstanding Winchester School (September 2025 Start - Key Stage 3, 4 & 5 Essential) Our Outstanding school in the historic cathedral city of Winchester seeks a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Teacher of History to join our thriving Humanities department and make a profound difference to the historical understanding, analytical prowess, and critical thinking capabilities of our students across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and, crucially, Key Stage 5, commencing in September 2025. Key Responsibilities Include: * Planning, preparing, and delivering highly effective and stimulating History lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and aspirations of our students across all key stages, drawing on historical events and themes relevant to Winchester's unique heritage. * Fostering students' deep understanding of key historical periods, concepts, and interpretations, with a strong emphasis on the comprehensive demands of the A-Level specifications. * Encouraging rigorous analysis of historical sources, the construction of well-supported arguments, and confident historical communication. * Assessing and tracking student progress in History across all key stages, providing insightful and constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies to ensure exceptional outcomes, particularly for A-Level students. * Contributing actively to the development, implementation, and rigorous review of the History curriculum across all key stages, ensuring alignment with examination specifications and providing extensive opportunities for historical enrichment and debate. * Utilising and contributing to the development of high-quality History resources, including primary and secondary sources, digital platforms, and engaging historical activities. * Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote historical understanding within the school community (e.g., history club, debates, historical trips). * Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the Humanities department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment. * Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of current developments in historical scholarship and pedagogy, with a strong focus on A-Level teaching and assessment. The Ideal Candidate Will Possess: * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. * A degree in History or a closely related highly relevant field. * Successful and demonstrable experience teaching History across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE), and, crucially, A-Level. * A strong and up-to-date understanding of the A-Level History curriculum and relevant examination specifications. * Exceptional pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, particularly the academic rigour and depth required at Key Stage 5. * A profound passion for History and the ability to inspire and stretch students' critical thinking, analytical, and historical inquiry skills. * Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. * A steadfast commitment to the safeguarding and well-being of students and the promotion of historical understanding within our vibrant Winchester community.
