This is a time of significant change for the Social Work Service in Dumfries & Galloway, as well as for the Health & Social Care sector generally. This post offers real opportunities to contribute to service delivery and development within Adult Services, both on a single and multi-agency basis.
Position Details:
* Work 36 hours per week across 5 days (Monday - Friday)
* Location: Adult Social Work team, predominantly in the West of the region; base location negotiable
Primary Responsibilities:
* Assess the needs and risks of service users living in the community
* Collaborate with service users, families, carers, and partner agencies such as health services and police
Experience and Knowledge:
* Experience working with adults with Physical Disabilities is beneficial
* Knowledge of community services for adults in statutory, third, and independent sectors is beneficial
* Essential: Experience in a health or social services setting; assessment and care management experience is desirable
* Practice using protective legislation, especially the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007
* Good knowledge of Self-Directed Support is beneficial
Skills and Qualifications:
* Excellent communication, assessment, analytical, and coordination skills
* Ability to prepare assessments of need and risk, and develop plans accordingly
* Commitment to evidence-based practice
* Qualification: Dip/SW/CQSW/CSS or equivalent
* Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council is essential
Additional Requirements:
* Current driving licence is essential; consideration given to alternatives if disability precludes holding a licence
