We are seeking a Finance Manager to become a key member of the EMEA Accounting team, located in our London office.
The role has responsibility for aspects of the controllership and accounting function in support of the EMEA operations. The accounting flows are operated in multiple legal entities with involvement of a number of stakeholders in different locations. This position will focus on reporting results to the business and implementing process improvements to support global goals. Additionally, the individual will own and drive cross-border projects, develop best practices in processes and controllership on an international level, with an emphasis on utilizing new technology, and develop subject matter expertise. They will also create and implement policies with the financial leadership team across worldwide Amazon locations.
Key job responsibilities
1. Leading and driving meetings with senior management on key financial statement areas.
2. Ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closes for EMEA operations, including review mechanisms, decision-making forums, and escalations with finance partners and management.
3. Driving standardization and continuous improvement of processes and controls to ensure high integrity of financial reporting (US GAAP, local GAAP, and management reporting), partnering with stakeholders for a comprehensive reporting approach.
4. Delivering cross-country functional projects, such as implementing best accounting and controllership practices to enhance the control environment.
5. Ensuring alignment of EMEA Accounting activities within the Worldwide Accounting Organization.
6. Communicating accounting and finance terminology effectively to non-finance audiences.
7. Supporting internal and external audit processes.
Basic Qualifications
* Extensive relevant experience in accounting functions.
* CPA / ACCA / ACA / CIMA or equivalent certification.
* Knowledge of GAAP accounting rules, including US GAAP and IFRS.
* Understanding of internal control frameworks, control design, and operational efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working for a medium to large, fast-paced international company.
* Proficiency in MS Office, Essbase, Cognos, and similar; knowledge of Oracle is a plus.
* Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
* Strong data analysis skills and the ability to identify issues and opportunities within processes, people, and technology.
