Job Title: Principal Designer (Building Regulations & Building Safety Act) – Telecoms, Infrastructure & Manufacturing
Location: Flexible, based on the right candidate
Overview:
Our client, a well-established and respected multi-disciplinary construction consultancy, is expanding its team due to continued growth and increased demand following the implementation of the Building Safety Act. They are seeking a seasoned Principal Designer with expertise in Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act to lead compliance and regulatory strategies on complex projects, including Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs). The successful candidate will ensure safe, compliant environments for diverse clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead duties as Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations across HRB and non-HRB projects.
* Manage Building Safety Regulator (BSR) applications, including Gateways 1, 2, and 3.
* Advise clients on regulatory impacts during telecoms, infrastructure, and manufacturing developments.
* Act as liaison between clients, contractors, consultants, and regulators to ensure project delivery.
* Review technical documentation for compliance.
* Coordinate construction programmes focusing on business continuity.
* Support planning and design of secure, specialist environments.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Principal Designer or senior design role with knowledge of CDM regulations, health and safety, and Building Regulations.
* Knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and related legislation.
* Successful application experience with the Building Safety Regulator.
* Chartered Architect or Chartered Architectural Technologist, with membership of RIBA, ARB, CIAT, or similar.
* Experience in complex commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
* Full UK driving licence.
