An exciting opportunity has arisen at Wye Valley NHS Trust (WVT) for a suitably qualified and experienced Multidisciplinary POCT Co-ordinator to join our Point of Care Testing department.
We are looking for a keen, enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist with experience in Blood Sciences and Microbiology, and an interest in developing services to help us continue to deliver exceptional, high-quality integrated care to our patients. WVT is an excellent place to train and develop new skills, and further study will be supported.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide operational, scientific and strategic advice on decisions for POCT as a member of the POCT department Management Team. This will include day to day management of POCT making efficient use of available resources to maintain a cost efficient and high standard of service in conjunction with the POCT Manager.
They post holder will be responsible for the implementation and adherence to policies to meet the requirements of ISO 15189, reporting on a regular basis to the POCT Manager and departmental Governance meetings.
The post holder will be required to deputise for the POCT Manager in periods of absence and may be required to provide support outside of routine hours.

* State Registered BMS
* MSc or FIBMS
Experience
* Proven experience with excellent working knowledge of Haematology
* Evidence of experience of quality management systems, audits and document control
* Proven experience with excellent working knowledge of Chemistry
* Proven experience with excellent working knowledge of Microbiology
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Ability to prioritise and manage own time and to direct the time of subordinate staff efficiently
* Ability to produce reports, protocols and documentation to a high level.
* Advanced practical analytical skills associated with diagnostic pathology work
