Purpose of the role;
This pivotal role will supervise all transport activities to ensure that the delivery plan is completed in accordance with customers’ requirements, whilst optimizing the company fleet and ensuring legal compliance.
Key Accountabilities:
* Act as the focal point for all daily operational Transport issues.
* Perform additional tasks as deemed reasonable by the Line Manager.
* Serve as a point of contact for Customer Service to share knowledge & experience within ICL.
* Share experience with other Transport Supervisors.
* Collaborate with Transport Planners to share knowledge & experience within ICL.
* Monitor fleet performance, utilize Microlise effectively, and challenge drivers when necessary.
* Oversee sub-contractor fleet performance and address issues with the respective company.
* Document changes to the Delivery Plan and produce an accurate Confirmed Delivery Plan for driver pay and sub-contractor costs.
* Plan vehicle maintenance in accordance with statutory regulations.
* Maintain Vehicle Maintenance Files with an auditable trail.
* Respond to customer inquiries, provide quotations, and update on delivery progress.
* Authorize all company driver payments.
* Review and authorize Contractor Costs as required.
* Review routes and suppliers to ensure cost-effective transport planning and maximize profitability.
* Produce weekly KPIs as directed by the Line Manager.
* Ensure proper use of the Fuel Management system by all Drivers at West Thurrock & Newport.
* Conduct incident investigations and refer for disciplinary action when appropriate.
* Provide daily Operations Sheets to the Planners, confirming holidays, sickness, rest days, and vehicle availability.
* Provide accurate Night Loader sheets for pre-loads and monitor night loading performance.
* Act as a designated representative on the Company Operator’s License.
* Ensure drivers comply with legislation, including WTD and tachographs.
* Coordinate planning with maintenance for different vehicle types.
* Ensure timely and accurate filing of paperwork.
* Manage priorities to meet results and deadlines.
* Lead by example with a proactive, 'can do' attitude to meet requirements & targets.
