The post holder will undertake a structured programme of learning with Essex University Partnership Trust, including personal study, academic work, placement learning, and assessment leading to the award of an MSc in Clinical Associate Psychology and employment as a Clinical Associate Psychologist (Band 6). The training is 18 months long, and the post holder will be employed as a Trainee Clinical Associate Psychologist (Band 5). Upon successful completion, they will be employed as a Clinical Associate Psychologist (Band 6).
The role involves conducting specialised psychological assessments, treatments, and other clinical interventions appropriate to this level of training with individuals and groups of service users. There is one post being recruited for in the East Kent Community Rehabilitation Service at The Beacon in Thanet. A driving licence and access to a car are essential for this role.

As a trainee Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP), you will work with service users and undertake training towards becoming a qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist. Your duties include psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention within your service, supporting team development, and contributing to service evaluation and development.
The training combines workplace learning with academic sessions, including monthly in-person cohort meetings and remote sessions for flexibility. Trainees work closely with psychologists and multidisciplinary teams, with supervision provided once qualified to develop independent practice.

Job Responsibilities
* Providing highly specialist psychological services to adults with severe mental health issues, including assessments, therapy, consultation, and training.
* Working semi-autonomously alongside psychology colleagues.
* Monitoring and evaluating service effectiveness.
* Collaborating with service users, families, carers, multidisciplinary teams, and partner organisations.
* Providing direct interventions such as psychological assessments and brief therapies, and indirect interventions like case discussions and debriefs.
* Offering clinical leadership, contributing to service development, and providing expert advice and consultation.
Minimum Requirements
* Graduate Basis of Eligibility (GBE) membership of the British Psychological Society.
* Honours Degree or equivalent in Psychology at 2.1 or above, or successful completion of a BPS-accredited conversion course with similar standing, or a 2.2 with additional relevant experience.
* Evidence of attainment in English and Maths at Level 2.
Desirable Criteria
* First Honours degree in Psychology.
Experience
* Essential: Experience working in an NHS setting with individuals experiencing severe mental health difficulties.
* Desirable: First Honours in Psychology, GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
