For this role, you can be based anywhere in the UK, however it will involve a lot of nights away from home. This is the Talent Pool for future vacancies should they arise in in the near future. Responsible for acting as an RO/Guard on the Britannic explorer, a Belmond Train. You will be responsible for the safety and timely operation of the service. Ensuring the Train is clean and ready for service. You will also be responsible for the safe preparation of rail freight services, and the operation of a variety of traction at off-network marshalling yards. Liaising with GB Railfreight Train Managers (Drivers), signallers and customers, you will ensure client requirements are met and trains are prepared, safely, efficiently and on time. Travelling to work sites within the nominated region. Keeping abreast of rule updates and safe systems of works for each location. Represent the company by demonstrating excellent customer service to understand the requirements of the customer. Working safely and efficiently with a willingness to challenge/report any safety concerns. Closing Date: 6th July 2025 Safe delivery of GB Railfreight services. Thorough preparation of trains entering the rail network. Detailed examinations of locomotives, wagons, and containers to confirm they are fit for purpose. Movement of trains as required on private infrastructure. Carry out coupling / uncoupling of rail vehicles to / from the locomotives and or each other as required. Travel within nominated region and other locations as required. Assisting and greeting passengers, answering questions, making announcements and always ensuring their safety. Full current Rail Operator Competence is essential. Full UK Manual drivers’ licence is essential. Lone working experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven flexible approach to work. Proven Customer service excellence Clean safety record Proven ability to work alone and to own initiative. Previous Guard experience/competence would be desirable. Personal Profile Ability to challenge unsafe work practices. Good interpersonal skills. Strong concentration and awareness skills. Able to work alone to complete duties but also an excellent team player. Flexible approach to work, willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of the business. Someone who is comfortable working outdoors in all seasons. Willingness to lodge away for extended periods of time.
