Are you an experienced Civils Quantity Surveyor or Estimator looking to take on a commercially focused role with real responsibility? This position offers the chance to work across a diverse range of civil engineering and groundworks projects, supporting tendering, cost planning, commercial management, and financial reporting from start to finish.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are accurately costed, commercially controlled, and delivered in line with contractual, financial, and operational requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll manage the commercial and financial aspects of civils projects, including:

Preparing accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions
*
Surveying proposed and completed works to validate costs
*
Producing forward work plans and labour forecasts
*
Meeting clients and attending site visits to understand project requirements
*
Identifying commercial risks and developing mitigation strategies
*
Working with junior QS staff to ensure tenders are issued on time
*
Liaising with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and statutory bodies
*
Managing day‑to‑day financial control of live projects, including final accounts
*
Monitoring subcontractor performance, safety, progress, and material requirements
*
Identifying and issuing variations in line with contractual changes
*
Producing detailed cost and progress reports
*
Forecasting monthly figures and working with the Project Coordinator on invoicing
*
Updating Eque2 with accurate financial and project commentary
*
Compiling project cashflows and ensuring smooth handovers from tender to delivery
*
Maintaining organised project folders and documentation
*
Managing projects from inception through to completion
About You
You’ll bring strong commercial and technical capability, ideally with:

3–5 years’ experience working on commercial tenders
*
Proven experience in civils, groundworks, or infrastructure projects
*
Strong numeracy, financial management, and analytical skills
*
Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
*
Commercial awareness and the ability to identify risks and opportunities
*
A collaborative approach and the ability to work well within a team
*
Ambition, determination, and a proactive mindset
*
Experience working on projects up to £5M
*
Knowledge of Microsoft Project (or similar)
*
Familiarity with NEC and JCT contracts (desirable)
*
Degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant construction discipline
*
Full UK driving licence
