Job description:

Are you passionate about advancing cancer care through cutting-edge imaging research? We have an exciting opportunity to join the Sheffield Platform for Imaging Research in Oncology (SPIRO), a £4M+ Yorkshire Cancer Research funded initiative that aims to transform cancer diagnosis and treatment through advanced imaging technologies.

As Clinical Imaging Study Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in managing clinical research studies across our unique imaging infrastructure, including Yorkshire’s only MRI-PET scanner and the North of England’s only Photon-Counting CT scanner. This is a joint post between the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STH), and you will coordinate multi-modal imaging studies that will directly benefit cancer patients.

In this varied role, you will manage patient recruitment and engagement, coordinate complex imaging appointments across multiple modalities, and ensure smooth delivery of clinical trials. You will also contribute to research governance, including ethics submissions, IRAS applications, and study set‑up through the STH Clinical Research and Innovation Office (CRIO). You will hold an honorary STH contract and work alongside the STH research coordinator team approximately two days per week.

We are looking for someone educated to masters level (or with equivalent experience) with experience in clinical or biomedical research coordination, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work sensitively with cancer patients and their families. You will have knowledge of Good Clinical Practice, research governance frameworks, and HRA/IRAS processes, and ideally some understanding of medical imaging in oncology research.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to world‑leading cancer imaging research within a joint University and NHS role. You will work with internationally recognised researchers and have access to state‑of‑the‑art imaging facilities, whilst developing expertise in both academic research coordination and NHS research governance.

£38,784 per annum pro rata
