6 months contract with a local authority Summary The Family Support Practitioner will work within the IFD Assessment Team, aligned with the Family First Partnership Programme, to provide early and targeted support to children, young people, and families. The primary aim of the role is to prevent escalation into statutory social work services by offering timely intervention, practical support, and high-quality assessments. The role involves direct work in family homes and community settings across the locality, supporting families to build resilience, improve wellbeing, and access appropriate services. Responsibilities Deliver early help and evidence-based interventions to support families at the earliest opportunity. Work directly with children, young people, and parents/carers to build safety, strengthen relationships, and promote wellbeing. Apply the Signs of Safety and Wellbeing framework when assessing needs and planning interventions. Provide clear information, advice, and signposting to local services and community resources. Essential Experience Direct experience working with children, young people, and families. Background in early help, family support, or community-based roles. Experience contributing to assessments, planning, and review processes. Essential Qualifications No formal qualification required (unqualified role). Enhanced Children’s DBS (essential). Additional Information Working hours: 37 hours per week. Enhanced DBS with barred list required. Hybrid: 3 days office-based, 2 days WFH/community. We work on a bi-weekly payment schedule.
