Peer support co-ordinator

Lancaster
Recovery Focus
Posted: 24 July
Offer description

£24,570 - £24,726 pro rata per annum

Permanent, part-time (15 hours per week)

Leicester

Your experience of working in the mental health field or a similar environment has given you a good understanding of service user development. All you need is the perfect environment to put your skills to great use. Welcome to Waythrough as a Peer Support Coordinator.

Leicestershire Crisis House at Box Tree Farm is a mental health Crisis House service, supporting individuals experiencing a mental health crisis within a recovery based model. The service is a 24hr support service, operating 7 days per week 365 days per year. Due to this our hours of work are scheduled and agreed via a rota system, agreed in advance with our teams. We have been operating in the area for a number of years and offer a staffed service to support those aged 18 and upwards.

Your challenge will be to work with the Team Leader, Peer Support Volunteers and clients to develop an efficient and effective Peer Support Service. That means recruiting and supporting a network of volunteers who have used mental health services to help others on their recovery journey. It also means helping to develop organisational policies, procedures, protocols and systems to underpin the provision of peer support across the business. Identifying and implementing training, promoting the service to stakeholders and operating a fully compliant service to agreed budgets – all are aspects of this challenging role.

To succeed, you’ll need a good understanding of the Recovery and Personalisation agenda and the principles and practice on which mental health services are run. Experience of recruiting and/or supervising volunteers would be useful too, although is not essential. You must, however, have a proven ability to consult, liaise and work collaboratively with a team of colleagues and a wide range of external organisations and a flexible approach to working hours. Well-organised and self-motivated, good problem and decision-making skills are vital, as is an innate ability to cope with personal stress.

When applying, please upload a CV and supporting statement which should clearly outline your skills and experience.
