Job Opportunity: Technician – Design & Technology, Food, and Art Location: Royston Pay: £25,183 We are seeking a motivated and organised technician to support high-quality teaching across Design & Technology (including Food Technology) and Art. The role involves working closely with teaching staff to prepare equipment, materials, and resources, ensuring safety and smooth lesson delivery. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, set up, and maintain tools, machinery, materials, and ingredients for practical lessons. Perform daily safety checks on equipment and workshops. Provide technical assistance during practical sessions. Maintain and clean machinery in line with Health & Safety standards. Manage stock levels, place orders, and keep accurate inventories. Support the display of student work and maintain an engaging learning environment. Carry out routine safety inspections and support risk assessments. Assist with teaching resource preparation. Ensure safe storage and disposal of materials and chemicals. Support specialist equipment use, including laser cutters, 3D printers, ovens, sewing machines, and kilns (training provided). Help maintain a clean and efficient food room environment. Use IT systems to manage stock and support lesson planning. Candidate Profile: Experience or interest in Design & Technology, Food Technology, or Art. Practical, hands-on approach with ability to work independently and collaboratively. Good organisational and communication skills. Understanding of Health & Safety in educational or workshop settings. Willingness to complete relevant training.
