To provide Performance Psychology services within the U9-U21 age range. To implement a research-driven curriculum that is delivered across the age groups, with clear transition links to preparing players for 1st team football.
Key Duties
One to One Support
* To conduct regular one-to-ones with all full-time players, focusing on transition from U17 within the full-time programme, and players transitioning to 1st team football.
* To ensure all full-time players receive individual support during the football season.
* To work towards agreed underpinning concepts and behaviours to prepare players psychologically for a career.
* RTP Processes – Weekly support with all mid/long-term injured players and IPRRS at appropriate time points. All touch points to be fed back to relevant staff. Medical to complete and feedback score.
* Player confidentiality to be always maintained, unless relevant info is essential for key stakeholders.
* Appropriate education delivered for all part-time players/parents (U9-16) linked to club-wide qualities.
* Full-Time Player Delivery to PDP Players (Programme Delivery in a varied way).
Staff CPD
* To help develop the club's DNA and performance behaviours amongst the academy, in line with our club-wide core values.
* To work closely with the Head of Integrated and the Head of Methodology to provide both collective and individual psychological support to coaches, supporting coaching delivery.
* To ensure appropriate staff workshops are delivered at regular intervals.
Objective Monitoring
* BRUMS to be completed by all PDP players on relevant days (All performance staff to manage).
* Manage the BRUMS process, ensuring completion/non-compliance/data is with correct personnel, and provide education around completion to ensure correct data.
* BRUMS results to be fed back on the same day to all performance/coaching staff and escalated further.
* Other objective questionnaires to be administered when appropriate and on an individual basis, e.g., RTP IPRRS.
About The Candidate
Requirements
* Undergraduate Degree in Sport Psychology or equivalent discipline (essential), Postgraduate degree in Psychology or Sport Psychology (desirable).
* BPS Chartered and HCPC-Registered Sport Psychologist (essential).
* Experience working within an elite sporting environment (essential).
* Experience working with elite-level athletes on an individual level (essential).
* Experience working with and through coaches/support staff in delivering psychological services (essential).
* Evidence of impactful 1:1 psychology support and/or psych-education delivery in elite sporting environments (essential).
* A strong interest in elite sport & football (essential).
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with staff & players (essential).
* A focus on applied, relevant psychological skills & strategies (essential).
* Ability to work under pressure and be flexible (within a dynamic environment) (essential).
