Position Description
Position Summary
The Residence Life Educator (RLE) is a live-in, professional educator responsible for delivering a student-development focused curriculum and co-curriculum that supports the University’s mission and undergraduate learning outcomes. The RLE promotes a safe living-learning environment and manages 9–12 undergraduate student staff members, oversees up to 385 residents, and actively participates in the Residence Life team. This is a full-time, 10-month position.
Education Required
Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or related field.
Experience Required
1 year of post-undergraduate residence life experience.

Special Working Conditions
1. Live-in position; 40 hours/week, with some nights, weekends, and holidays.
2. Respond to crises and participate in risk management; no more than four RLEs away overnight during classes.
3. Must have a valid driver’s license.
4. Presence on campus when students are present; use paid time off during breaks.
5. Position renewed annually, with a five-year term limit.
Driving Requirements
Must have a valid driver’s license to fulfill on-call responsibilities.
Primary Duties
1. Curriculum planning, evaluation, and delivery aligned with undergraduate learning outcomes.
2. Daily and weekly student engagement, including meetings and programming.
3. Communicate and enforce community standards.
4. Facilitate conduct meetings and teach related curricula.
5. Provide leadership education for Resident Assistants.
6. Assess curricula and staff performance.
7. Academic advising and teaching specific courses.
8. Professional development and assessment of student learning.
9. Maintain records, schedule advising hours, and administrative responsibilities.
10. Foster a safe, inclusive living-learning environment.
11. Coordinate retention efforts and respond to student crises.
12. Build relationships with residents and participate in department initiatives.
Secondary Duties
1. Participate in committees and collaborate with other campus offices.
2. Perform other duties as assigned.
