Head of Coaching and Player Development / Foundation Phase Lead

£17 per hour for 40 weeks of the season (£6,800)

Role Summary

Cambridge United Football Club is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and nurturing Academy Lead Coach to play a key role in delivering the Academy’s coaching programme in line with our club philosophy and the EPPP framework. This individual will lead the planning and delivery of age-appropriate coaching sessions, mentor other academy coaches, and foster a player-first environment focused on long-term development.

Key Job Outcomes

* Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality coaching sessions for a specific age group phase in the Foundation Phase (U9 – U12)
* Promote a nurturing environment that supports the development both on and off the pitch.
* Ensure every session is engaging, challenging, and tailored to the individual and team needs.
* Maintain an energetic and enthusiastic presence that motivates players.
* Work collaboratively with the Head of Coaching and Foundation Phase Lead Coach to align with club philosophy.
* Conduct regular match-day coaching and provide individual feedback to players and parents.
* Contribute to regular player reviews and support the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) process.
* Maintain accurate coaching records on the Football Intelligence Platform in line with club and EPPP requirements.
* Promote high standards of behaviour, professionalism, and safeguarding at all times.

UEFA B License or working towards

FA Youth Award or working towards it

Experience working in a professional academy environment

Strong knowledge of youth development principles and the EPPP framework

Experience of working with player/parents in football environments

Introduction to first aid qualification
