Role Overview
As a Quality Engineer, you will support the maintenance and improvement of the companys Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
You will work closely with production, engineering, and management teams to investigate quality issues, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives. You will also assist with maintaining health and safety compliance to help ensure a safe working environment.
Previous experience operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to support product quality verification would be advantageous but is not essential.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Engineering
Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the companys Integrated Management System (IMS) in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA) to address quality issues and support process improvements.
Monitor and analyse quality performance data, including customer complaints, non-conformances, scrap, and rework.
Assist with product inspections and measurement activities, including the use of a CMM if required, ensuring products meet specification requirements.
Support production teams by providing guidance on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
Health & Safety Support
Support compliance with UK health and safety regulations, assisting with risk assessments and control measures.
Promote health and safety awareness across the business through collaboration with operational teams.
Assist with safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
Maintain and support health and safety documentation, ensuring records remain up to date and compliant with legal requirements.
Continuous Improvement
Support initiatives aimed at improving product quality, reducing waste, and optimising manufacturing processes.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including production and engineering, to resolve quality issues.
Assist with new product introduction (NPI) by ensuring quality requirements are considered throughout development and production stages.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in a Quality Engineering or Quality role within a manufacturing environment, ideally within the plastics industry.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards and audit processes.
Experience supporting health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and safe working practices.
Experience using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and interpreting measurement data would be advantageous but not essential.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
Relevant qualifications in Quality Management and/or Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, Six Sigma) are desirable.
