Overview
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Engineering Surveyor to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and mentor junior surveyors.
* Ensure the security, integrity, and sufficiency of survey equipment.
* Contribute to survey material and equipment costing and procurement.
* Collect survey field data, process, and issue deliverables in agreed formats.
* Ensure site‑specific tolerances are achieved for all survey operations.
* Secure storage and management of historical survey data.
* Carry out QA on design deliverables prior to construction release.
* Provide site engineers with information derived from design deliverables (schedules, digital models, drawings).
* Undertake independent survey checks at key construction stages.
* Produce as‑built drawings and records in survey‑specific software.
* Complete QA documentation and comply with hold point checks in line with ITP procedures.
* Collate survey records to support project commercial management.
* Maintain an inventory of survey equipment and consumables.
* Deliver daily safety briefings and prepare Task Briefing Sheets (TBS).
* Identify hazards and raise observation cards to ensure safe working practices for self and team.
* Liaise with senior surveyors, project management, designers, JV partners, subcontractors and supply chain to ensure programmed survey requirements are met.
Essential Qualifications
* Previous experience in surveying, with exposure to civil engineering projects.
* Proficiency in IT applications and survey-specific software (e.g., 3DR, N4CE, Infinity, SiteScan).
* Knowledge of settlement monitoring systems, methods, and technologies.
* Understanding of geodetic requirements associated with project delivery.
* Familiarity with latest survey equipment, GNSS networks, and emerging technologies.
* Effective communication, negotiation, and team‑building skills.
* Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver outputs to programme.
* Strong focus on Health & Safety.
Desirable Experience
* Membership of a relevant professional body and/or professional qualification, ideally RICS or CICES.
* Experience of mechanical‑focused construction projects.
* CAA‑recognised drone operator qualifications (GVC and/or A2 CofC).
* Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).
* First Aid at Work qualification.
