Deputy Service Manager (Supported Living)- Responsibilities and Requirements The role includes responsibilities across several key areas:Leadership and Practice
* Acting as a role model for support workers in delivering high-quality care
* Coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff development, including Care Certificate learners
* Leading meetings and contributing to a reflective team culture
* Promoting person-centered active support and continuous improvement in practice
* Supporting family engagement, healthcare professionals, and external partners
Quality, Safety and Compliance
* Supporting the implementation of safeguarding, risk management, and incident reporting processes
* Ensuring compliance with CQC, HSE, local authority, and internal quality standards
* Supporting risk assessments, care planning, and life plan reviews
* Ensuring proper medication management procedures are followed
* Promoting human rights, mental capacity principles, and Deprivation of Liberty safeguards
* Supporting audits, spot checks, and safeguarding investigations
Operations and Administration
* Supporting rota planning and service delivery based on individual needs
* Assisting with budget management and financial procedures
* Ensuring accurate use of systems and records (e.g., care documentation, reporting tools)
* Supporting payroll reconciliation and vacancy management
* Liaising with housing providers and maintaining safe, compliant living environments
People and Workforce
* Supporting recruitment and onboarding processes
* Conducting supervisions, appraisals, and performance management
* Supporting training, development plans, and employee engagement
* Facilitating team meetings and contributing to a positive workplace culture
* Conducting exit interviews
Relationships and Stakeholders
* Building strong relationships with colleagues, families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies
* Engaging with regulatory bodies and local authorities
* Working collaboratively to ensure person-centered outcomes
Premises and Safety
* Supporting health and safety compliance across homes and services
* Ensuring fire safety, maintenance, and environmental health standards are met
* Reporting repairs and ensuring equipment is safe and functional
Deputy Service Manager (Supported Living) Requirements
* Knowledge of adult learning disability services and relevant legislation (CQC, safeguarding, health & safety, mental capacity)
* Experience in frontline management within social care or supported living
* Experience coaching, mentoring, and leading teams
* Ability to manage risk, compliance, and person-centered support planning
* Strong communication, decision-making, and organisational skills
* IT proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office and care management systems)
* Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (or Level 3 with willingness to complete Level 4 apprenticeship)
