About Phorest
Phorest Salon Software powers over 12,000 hair and beauty salons in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Finland, the USA and Canada. The platform supports hundreds of thousands of professionals every day and millions of consumers.
Our system touches every point of the salon experience - from the in-salon software appointment calendar and CRM with a fully integrated marketing suite, to staff apps to payments. Over €4 billion was processed in salons last year using Phorest, and each month 100's of thousands of online bookings are created.
We also provide salons with amazing experiences for their clients through custom native apps for booking appointments and eCommerce solutions to help sell online 24/7. Why? Because we're passionate about helping our salons find their dream clients and keep them coming back more often, spending more, and spreading the word.
About the Business Systems Team
While our customer-facing teams focus on empowering salons, the Business Systems team focuses on the engine that powers Phorest itself. Our "customers" are our colleagues across Onboarding, Sales, Support, and Finance, the teams who rely on robust internal tools to keep Phorest running smoothly on a global scale.
We own and evolve a complex ecosystem of internal systems spanning multiple regions, legacy platforms, and interconnected workflows. A key part of our vision is to bring some of these internal business processes directly into the Phorest product, enabling salon clients to self-serve aspects of onboarding, account setup, and ongoing management.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Product Designer who loves untangling complexity and bringing clarity to intricate systems. This is a rare opportunity to become the first dedicated designer on the Business Systems team, helping us move from a developer-led UI to a truly user-centred design practice.
You'll have a meaningful impact on the daily work lives of your colleagues by reducing friction, streamlining processes, and designing internal tools that work seamlessly together, while also laying the foundation for future customer-facing features.
You'll join a close-knit product trio (Product Manager, Engineering Manager, and Technical Business Analyst) and collaborate with a senior, supportive team that values thoughtful problem-solving and visible impact.
What You'll Do
* Work closely with engineers in a product-engineering environment, from discovery through to shipping and iteration.
* Bring clarity to complex, sometimes undocumented processes by mapping workflows and designing end-to-end solutions for highly interdependent systems.
* Visualise how data flows between people and systems, identifying opportunities to automate, simplify, or improve experiences.
* Apply strong information architecture and service design skills alongside UI design.
* Rapidly validate ideas by testing prototypes with internal users, whether for new features in our internal OAK platform or configured workflows in tools like Rocketlane.
* Collaborate closely with the Technical Business Analyst to translate user needs into clear, actionable designs for engineering.
* Manage and align stakeholders across Sales, Finance, Support, and Operations, balancing competing needs through strong user-centred design rationale.
* Design solutions that work globally, accounting for regional differences across North America, Europe, and Australia.
Who You Are
* You have 3+ years of professional experience in Product Design (UX/UI), ideally within B2B or internal tooling environments.
* You're a systems thinker who isn't intimidated by "spaghetti" processes and enjoys mapping complexity into coherent solutions.
* You have a clear, repeatable design process that consistently delivers strong outcomes.
* You enjoy close collaboration with Product Managers and Engineers to get to the heart of real problems.
* You have experience working with senior stakeholders and securing buy-in across cross-functional teams.
* You're comfortable running user interviews, workshops, and shadowing sessions—and believe the best insights come from observing real work.
* You can clearly articulate and defend your design decisions, even when navigating conflicting requirements.
* You thrive in environments where documentation is limited and processes are evolving—and see this as an opportunity to create clarity.
* You bring a can-do attitude, growth mindset, and eagerness to learn.
* Fluent English is essential.
Why Join Us?
* Be the first designer shaping the UX vision for a critical internal product area.
* See the direct impact of your work by making colleagues' lives easier every day.
* Collaborate with a smart, supportive, and senior team that values thoughtful design.
* Help build systems that scale globally and ultimately improve the experience for salons worldwide.

So if you think you have what it takes, but don't necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch. We'd love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit.
