About HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS)

HMCTS is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family Courts and Tribunals in England and Wales. We support court users and colleagues within HMCTS, enabling people and businesses to access life‑changing justice. We are looking for dedicated public servants who want to make a difference in people’s lives and deliver justice.


Your Role

As an Admin Officer you will work as part of a team to support operational, performance and service delivery across your area. You will handle cases through the court/tribunal system and provide administrative support to HMCTS functions. Your regular contact will include court / tribunal users, members of the Judiciary, and the legal profession.


Key Responsibilities

* Prepare papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings.
* Create and update records in the in‑house computer system and input data accurately.
* Record court results accurately, interpreting the required information from a court file.
* Check and verify documents, records, accounts, claims and returns for approval, results, statistics, plans etc. against criteria, regulations or procedures.
* Collect and assemble information for returns, results, accounts, statements, warrants, statistical analysis and reports.
* Communicate with the public, the Judiciary, other Court and Tribunal users and representatives of other agencies and organisations.


Your Skills and Experience

You will bring a friendly and approachable manner, excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills. You will deliver proactive and effective customer support by phone and email, organise your time, prioritise efficiently, multi‑task and adapt to various software packages. You will thrive in a busy environment and aid court users in navigating the justice system.


Further Details

This operational role is customer facing and office based. Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns where they meet business needs and are agreed prior to appointment. All applications for part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns will be considered in accordance with the MoJ Flexible Working policy.


Skilled Worker Visa

From 22 July 2025, the Government increased the salary threshold and skills level for Skilled Worker visas. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship unless you meet the new requirements. If you have held a Skilled Worker visa continuously since before 22 July 2025, please raise this during your vetting checks. Successful applicants must ensure they have the legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom.


Working Arrangements & Further Information

MoJ offers hybrid working arrangements where business need allows, blending work from your base location, MoJ sites and home. All employees will be expected to spend at least 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity.

* Turkish nationals and certain family members who have accrued the right to work in the Civil Service


Reserve List

A reserve list may be held for up to 12 months, from which further appointments may be made for the same or similar roles.
