Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Staffordshire County Council as a motivated and forward‑thinking Records Manager within our innovative Information Governance Unit. This is a pivotal role at a key moment in our transformation journey, supporting the delivery of major projects that will shape how we manage, protect, and use information across the organisation.

As Records Manager, you will play a central part in implementing our Information Management Strategy, embedding best practice, and driving improvements that enhance the Council's effectiveness and service delivery.

Main Responsibilities

You will be leading on ensuring there is a culture of excellent records management practices embedded across the organisation, for both electronic and paper records, throughout their lifecycle in line with ISO15489. Including promoting, communicating, and embedding best practice across the organisation in line with the Strategy.

You will be responsible for managing the inhouse Records Centre function and will be over the Records Management Team who deliver an operational service to Staffordshire County Council and partners. Your role will be to oversee the Records Centre function ensuring all records - paper and digital - are stored, retrieved, and handled in line with internal protocols and external legislation.

The role is also integral for the continued development the organisation's Electronic Document & Records Management System (EDRMS) which includes the maintenance of the information architecture, permissions model and organisation‑wide file plan to support safe, structured and compliant information management.

You will be required to be based in the Stafford office/Records Centre 2 days a week.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for you to,

* be knowledgeable, enthusiastic and motivated with experience in records management and information management implementation, with either a formal qualification in records / information management, working towards it or extensive experience in a records management role implementing large scale records management programmes of work.
* have a demonstrable understanding or proven track record of being involved with Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRMS) implementation and management, with a clear in-depth grasp of the principles of an EDRMS and be able to communicate as such.
* have strong time and workload management skills.
* have an analytical, inquisitive and problem-solving mind and excellent attention to detail.
* be comfortable with communicating with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, with strong verbal, written and digital skills and have experience of working in a changing and challenging work environment.
* have experience of managing a team.
