Our client are specialists in their industry sector; they are now looking to recruit a Transport Planning Manager on a permanent basis.
The job you’ll do
* We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Group Transport Planning Manager, reporting to the Group Transport Manager.
* The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, with core hours from 06:00 to 16:00.
* There must be flexibility to meet customer needs and timescales.
* You will be responsible for ensuring transport resources operate effectively and efficiently, managing various types of vehicles and trailers.
* Other responsibilities include planning and routing trucks to meet haulage demands, vehicle compliance, and leading logistics staff.
Responsibilities
* Transport Planning: Develop and implement transport plans to meet customer delivery requirements across all pallets and packaging sites.
* Optimize vehicle routing and scheduling for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, minimizing dead miles.
* Monitor and adjust transport plans in response to demand changes or unforeseen circumstances.
Fleet Management
* Coordinate vehicle allocation and utilization for daily operations.
* Liaise with maintenance providers to ensure vehicles are maintained and serviced on schedule.
* Keep records of vehicle usage, maintenance, and compliance documentation.
Regulatory Compliance
* Ensure operations comply with legislation, health & safety, and environmental regulations.
* Stay updated on transport laws and best practices in haulage.
Communication and Coordination
* Act as the primary contact between drivers and customers.
* Develop and maintain customer relationships.
* Provide drivers with route and schedule instructions.
* Address delays or issues promptly to maintain customer service levels.
Continuous Improvement
* Monitor KPIs such as fuel usage and operational efficiency.
* Identify process improvements and implement strategies.
* Contribute to operational and cost-reduction initiatives.
About You
* Previous experience as a Transport Planning Manager.
* CPC certification and a valid driving license.
* Experience in transport planning, especially in general haulage.
* Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and fleet operations is advantageous.
* Ability to communicate effectively in English and understand written instructions.
* Proof of eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
