The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a CAD Engineer to join the Product Development Chiller department. The role involves collaborating with mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, and quality engineers to design and develop the structural framework and packaging of new standard Chiller products from concept to production, while maintaining the existing portfolio.
The Role
The role involves working as part of a team to develop new product designs in accordance with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and SOM guidelines, from concept through to full product launch.
Key Responsibilities
* Producing drawings that adhere to company, departmental, and industry standards
* Creating 3D models, layout drawings, and designing pipework
* Creating sheet metal manufacturing and assembly drawings
* Working to deadlines and cost requirements
* Designing products with manufacturing and assembly considerations to meet labour targets
* Structuring Bills of Material
* Sourcing appropriate furnishings and casework fittings
* Developing designs suitable for EU and North American markets
Skills & Experience
* Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
* HNC or degree in Engineering or Science
* Previous product design experience
* Sheet metal design experience
* Sheet metal manufacturing experience (preferred)
* Mechanical engineering knowledge (advantageous)
* Ability to use own initiative
* Effective communication skills at all levels
* Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM
* Familiarity with software such as Solid Edge ST9+, Radan 2D CAD/CAM, AutoCAD 2D, SAP
While a foundational CAD knowledge is expected, training will be provided to the right candidate to develop necessary skills and knowledge.
