Secondary SEN Tutor / SEND Tutor – Bromley
Autism | SEMH | ADHD | 1:1 Tuition | Ages 11–25
Location: Bromley (including Beckenham and surrounding areas)
Pay: £20–£35 per hour PAYE
Job Type: Flexible Part-Time / Full-Time
Availability Required: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–4:00pm
About New Chapter Tuition
New Chapter Tuition provides specialist 1:1 education support for children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education full-time. We work closely with local authorities, schools, families, and professionals to provide personalised, nurture-based tuition that helps learners rebuild confidence, engagement, and academic progress.
We are currently recruiting experienced and compassionate Secondary SEN Tutors to support learners across Bromley and surrounding areas.
The Role
This rewarding outreach role involves delivering tailored 1:1 tuition to young people aged 11–25 with a range of additional needs, including:
* Autism (ASC)
* SEMH
* ADHD
* Dyslexia
* Speech and Language Needs
* Anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA)
* Additional learning needs
Learners may be accessing support through EOTAS packages, alternative provision, elective home education, PEX pathways, or whilst awaiting specialist school placements.
Sessions take place within homes, libraries, community settings, and other appropriate learning environments.
Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to individual needs
* Adapt teaching strategies to support engagement and confidence
* Plan sessions in line with EHCP outcomes and learning plans
* Support learners with both academic and emotional development
* Build positive and consistent relationships with young people
* Complete session feedback and progress reports
* Liaise professionally with families, schools, and external professionals
* Use trauma-informed and nurture-based approaches throughout delivery
Requirements
* Experience supporting young people with SEN / SEND needs
* Previous experience as a Tutor, Teacher, HLTA, TA, Learning Mentor, or Intervention staff member preferred
* Good understanding of the UK secondary curriculum and/or Functional Skills
* Confident working independently within community settings
* Strong communication and behaviour management skills
* Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
* Right to work in the UK
