Restaurant Manager - Webbs, Cheltenham. We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Restaurant Manager to join our Hospitality team at our Cheltenham store. Webbs is an award-winning garden centre retailer with four stores and a growing ecommerce business. Our stores are premium garden centres with indoor and outdoor horticulture departments, gifts, homeware, furniture and clothing. As Restaurant Manager, you will hold full accountability for the performance of the restaurant. Rather than managing day-to-day shifts, you will lead through your Assistant Managers, developing them, empowering them, and ensuring they deliver consistently high standards across food, service, and safety. You will set the tone for excellence, build capability across the leadership team, and ensure the restaurant operates efficiently, safely, and in line with Webbs’ values and brand standards.
Key responsibilities
* Lead, coach, and develop Assistant Managers and build strong succession.
* Manage performance, absence, and disciplinary matters.
* Create a high-performance, values-driven culture with effective training and communication.
* Uphold service, food safety, allergen, hygiene, and H&S standards.
* Maintain a safe, clean, compliant restaurant with a 5-star Food Hygiene rating.
* Ensure accurate, appealing menus, signage, and promotions.
* Monitor customer experience and resolve complaints promptly.
* Own labour, cost control, and overall restaurant performance.
* Lead forecasting, budgeting, and wage planning.
* Oversee stock control, ordering, and stocktakes.
* Drive upselling and commercial growth.
* Lead recruitment, induction, and rota planning.
* Work collaboratively across departments and the wider food leadership team.
* Support menu launches, service improvements, and change initiatives.
* Contribute to cross-site projects and provide data for reporting.
Qualifications
* Level 2 and Level 3 Food Safety.
* At least 1 year’s experience as a Restaurant Manager or equivalent.
* Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
* Strong understanding of people management processes and policies.
* Excellent communication and confident decision-making skills.
* Customer-focused with strong complaint-resolution skills.
* Highly organised, resilient, and able to manage conflicting priorities.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills for costings, rotas, and stock control.
* IT literate (Microsoft Office, MS Teams).
Desirable Experience
* Experience with varied EPOS/till systems.
* Knowledge of the Opus platform.
* Ability to demonstrate Webbs’ values: Genuine, Caring, Experts.
Role details
This is a permanent role, working 39.5 hours per week. The role is based at our store in Cheltenham, and living within a reasonable commuting distance is a must.
