An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shop Assistant to join our team in Gray's Art Shop. Working within the Art Shop, your role will be to assist the students, staff and public in their request by delivering a high level of customer service.
We are seeking a motivated and intuitive individual to join our close-knit team. This role requires strong communication, numeracy, and organisational skills, along with a solid understanding of Art and Design materials and a genuine passion for arts and crafts.
This is a permanent part-time role of 17.5 hours working Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9.00am to 3.30pm.

RESPONSIBLE FOR: No supervisory responsibility
PURPOSE OF POST: Working as part of the Art Shop team, you will deliver a high level of customer service and advice on a day-to-day basis.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
* To guide, inform and assist our customers in the purchase of art materials.
* To process sales through Epos (till system) and end of day cash up
* To keep the shop area clean and tidy
* To care for and maintain stock and to monitor stock levels
* To ensure your product knowledge is kept up-to-date
* To support the marketing of the shop and its services
* To comply with University policies and procedures, particularly in relation to shop security, Health & Safety, and the processing of administration
* To carry out any additional duties as may be assigned

Educated to a minimum of Standard Grade level to include English and Maths
Knowledge
Knowledge of Art and Design materials and a passion for arts and crafts.
The ability to learn and retain a high level of product information and be able to communicate this effectively to customers. The team will be on hand to help as you learn.
Ability to use own initiative and work independently as well as part of a team.
A proven commitment to customer service
Experience
Experience in Art and/or Design or other related discipline.
Experience of working in a busy environment.
