About us
This role offers the opportunity to strengthen how the Council manages its procurement and contract performance. Working as part of the central procurement team you will be involved in all aspects of the Councils operations.
As the Systems and Performance Officer, you will ensure our core procurement and contract management systems are reliable, well-maintained and consistently used across the organisation. You’ll support colleagues with accurate data, reporting insights, helping to embed good practice and drive consistency. You will ensure the information on our procurement activities is up to date, accurate and meaningful.
Offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis while the wider structure is reviewed and agreed, the role provides a chance to contribute to shaping how a modern, effective procurement and contract management service operates. You’ll be joining a supportive team that works closely with colleagues across the Council and national partners, with the opportunity to bring your ideas, develop your skills and add real value during an important period of improvement.
If the role is made permanent, you’ll have access to further professional development opportunities, including the chance to work towards internationally recognised qualifications such as CIPS.
The role
In this role, you will help strengthen how the Council manages procurement and contract performance by supporting the systems and data that sit at the heart of our processes. Key responsibilities include:
1. Maintaining and updating procurement and contract management systems, ensuring information is accurate and consistently recorded.
2. Supporting colleagues across the organisation in using dedicated IT systems such and internal contract registers.
3. Producing clear, reliable data and performance reports that support informed decision-making.
4. Helping to develop and refine processes, templates and tools that improve consistency and good practice.
5. Working with the Procurement Team to ensure compliance with procedures and to support smooth, efficient workflows.
6. Contributing insight and ideas to the ongoing development of a modern, effective procurement and contract management function.
7. Communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels
