Engineer a Better Tomorrow – For People, Planet, and Progress

At Mott MacDonald, we’re more than just an engineering, management, and development consultancy— we’re a purpose-driven community of passionate individuals committed to shaping a better future. As a wholly employee-owned business, we choose our own direction and focus on what truly matters: delivering meaningful outcomes for our clients, empowering our people, and making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.

We work across incredible global industries, delivering exciting work that is defining our future and making an important societal impact. It’s our people who power that performance—we succeed when they do.

About The Role

We’re currently looking for a Graduate Wastewater Network Modeller to join our Water Utilities Division, a centre of excellence that supports colleagues across our global business. You’ll be part of a team tackling some of the most pressing challenges of our time—climate change, ageing infrastructure, pollution incidents, Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) spills, and population growth—by designing resilient wastewater networks and delivering major pipeline transfers and drainage systems that protect communities and the environment.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to grow your technical and project management skills through diverse and impactful project work. You’ll be supported by senior and principal modellers and collaborate across our UK-wide modelling team, gaining exposure to national and international water frameworks.

What You’ll Be Doing

* Build and calibrate 1D and 2D hydraulic models
* Assess and influence CSO activity and operation to meet sector targets
* Evaluate foul water flooding and wastewater network resilience
* Develop mitigation solutions and present options to clients
* Work with industry-standard modelling software, GIS, and coding tools
* Produce high-quality reports and visualisations
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the business

Candidate Specification

We are looking for committed and motivated graduates with a genuine passion and a desire to make a difference in the world. If this describes you, apply today to launch your career at Mott MacDonald.

To be eligible, you should have some relevant experience (excluding placements) and a bachelor’s degree (obtained no earlier than 2024) or be expected to complete one in the following disciplines:

* Geography
* Hydrology and Water Management
* Water and Environmental Engineering
* Environmental Science
* Civil Engineering
* Mathematics

In your application, you should aim to demonstrate your genuine interest in both the opportunity and in joining Mott MacDonald. You can do this by highlighting any relevant experience or interests—such as modules you’ve studied, previous work experience, or any research you’ve undertaken about our company, values, and projects.

We personally review every completed application form we receive as this part of our selection process is entirely human-led. We do not use AI tools at this stage and kindly expect you not to either. We want you to answer each application question with authenticity so we can get to know the real you. Joining us as a graduate is your opportunity to shape your own story.

Desired Qualities

* Methodical approach to problem solving.
* Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
* Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
* Excellent written communication and attention to detail.

Mott MacDonald Ltd. is not able to provide visa sponsorship through the UK Skilled Worker route at this time due to changes made by the UK Government in April 2024. We develop, train, and retain our graduates and therefore we are looking for a long-term relationship with our graduates.
