As a Project Engineer, you will be accountable for the technical and engineering assurance of a portfolio of Fibre upgrade builds. This includes overseeing technical design, build quality, and compliance with clients standards and specifications. The role supports the client’s growth agenda by ensuring safe, high‑quality, cost‑efficient delivery across HSEQ, programme management, construction, and commissioning activities.

Shifts: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Ensure the adoption of leading HSEQ practices across all aspects of the build delivery as part of the client Zero Harm culture
* Ensures that the programme delivers to the agreed standard of quality and within the specified constraints of cost, risk, time and benefit related to the programme rollout, providing technical expertise / consultancy as required
* Assuring the technical design of the network, ensuring existing networks (VM/PIA) are maximised where possible and that network design is efficient and meets budgetary constraints
* Ensure testing is conducted correctly and to the client specification
* Assuring engineering processes are being followed throughout the design and build lifecycle and that technical specs and quality standards are upheld
* Quality checking network records and test results are in line with Virgin Media specification
* Undertake onsite fault-finding and root cause analysis of the XGSPON fibre splicing/patching and remedy all XGSPON active equipment issues.
Other stuff we’re potentially looking for:
* Demonstrable experience of FTTP and XGSPON fibre build especially in fault finding and root cause analysis of splicing and patching.
* Demonstrable experience of systems integration including Nokia, Eltek power systems, Ciena.
* Basic understanding of power systems and DNO processes
* Fibre splicing, testing using EXFO and Viavi test equipment
* Worked with GIS systems would be an advantage
* Strong ability to derive patterns and root cause issues out of data sets
* Experience of Continuous improvement methodologies.
* Astute relationship management; ability to negotiate suitable outcomes that mitigate project issues
* Experience of solving escalated project engineering issues
* Agle manage multiple changes, whilst being proactive and forward-looking
