Site Engineer - Highway Project - Leiston
A leading civil engineering firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Site Engineer to join our team working on a major highway project in the Bedford area. This exciting opportunity will involve providing technical expertise and oversight for a wide range of construction activities, ensuring the project's successful completion on time and within budget.
About the Role:
As Site Engineer, you will work closely with the Site Manager and other project team members to provide technical guidance and support throughout the construction phase. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Setting Out & Surveying: Accurately establish control points, set out lines, levels, and grades, ensuring the precise alignment and construction of all elements.
2. Technical Support: Provide technical guidance to the site team, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and design requirements.
3. Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control procedures, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of workmanship and complies with project specifications.
4. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical challenges that arise during construction, providing solutions to ensure the project stays on track.
5. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of construction activities, including drawings, calculations, and reports.
6. Coordinate with Contractors: Liaise with contractors and subcontractors, providing technical guidance, resolving issues, and ensuring alignment with design intent.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
1. Proven Experience: You possess multiple years of experience as a Site Engineer in the highways sector, with a proven track record of working on complex civil engineering projects.
2. Technical Expertise: You have a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction techniques, and materials related to highways, including excavation, foundations, drainage, and roadworks.
3. Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: You are a strong problem solver, able to think critically and find practical solutions to technical challenges.
4. Technical Proficiency: You are proficient in using surveying equipment (e.g., total stations, GPS), CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D), and other relevant technical applications.
5. Communication Skills: You are an effective communicator, able to clearly convey technical information to the site team, project managers, and other stakeholders.
