As Managing Director, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership, performance, and strategic direction of the business. This is a hands‑on role combining strategy with execution.
Responsibilities
* Full ownership of business performance, including P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow management
* Developing and delivering a clear business and growth strategy aligned to commercial objectives
* Translating strategy into actionable plans, KPIs, and measurable outcomes
* Leading all operational areas, including production, installation, sales, supply chain, and aftersales
* Driving improvements in efficiency, quality, productivity, and on‑time delivery
* Introducing structure, systems, and accountability without over‑complicating the business
* Improving margins and profitability through strong commercial decision‑making
* Building, leading, and developing a capable senior management team
* Creating a performance‑driven culture with clear ownership and accountability
* Recruiting, retaining, and developing key talent across the business
* Acting as the senior representative of the business with key customers, suppliers, and partners
* Working closely with the owner, providing visibility, assurance, and confidence as they step back from day‑to‑day operations

Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Managing Director, General Manager, Operations Director, or similar senior leadership role
* A background within construction, manufacturing, glazing, windows/doors, or a related sector
* Experience in owner‑managed or SME environments
* A strong track record of improving operational performance and profitability
* A hands‑on, practical, and commercially minded leadership style
* Confidence to make decisions and lead through change
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to align teams around clear priorities
* Accountability, resilience, and a results‑focused mindset
* High personal integrity, with a structured, pragmatic, and solutions‑oriented approach
