About the Role
As a Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for a section of the assembly process for a system or vehicle. You will support the Production Supervisor with the day-to-day management of your allocated area.
Overseeing a team of Production operatives, you will ensure the efficient operation of the department, achieve delivery milestones, maintain quality standards, and foster a safe working culture.
You will support team members' development, including apprentices, and act as a technical assessor and trainer for operatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Promoting a safe working environment by adhering to Workplace Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work, and continuously seeking safer work practices.
2. Impacting SQCDP metrics (safety, quality, cost, delivery, people) and escalating issues when standards are not met.
3. Ensuring efficient start-up and end-of-shift routines to meet daily KPIs.
4. Monitoring work standards, coaching, and continuously improving team processes and skills.
5. Maintaining cleanliness and organization through good housekeeping practices.
6. Contributing to continuous improvement activities within the team and the wider business.
7. Participating in business reviews as a delegated member of the production management team.
Apply if you have most of the following:
1. Substantial experience in vehicle body building, mechanical fitting, or an equivalent trade.
2. Competence in manufacturing and assembly processes and techniques.
3. Ability to read engineering drawings and related data.
4. Experience in training individuals is desirable.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. Proactive leadership style, able to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Experience leading a team of production operatives.
8. Ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organization.
9. Supportive and encouraging approach, attentive to team members' wellbeing and development needs.
10. Clear understanding of individual and team responsibilities, goals, and objectives.
11. Positive influence, able to maintain composure under pressure and support the team through challenges.
12. Constructive conflict resolution skills, encouraging open communication and team cohesion.
Education:
1. Completed a City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, or Manufacturing and Assembly.
2. IOSH Managing Safely certification is preferable; training can be provided if needed.
Additional considerations:
* This role requires full-time onsite presence.
* Occasional travel may be necessary.
* Flexibility to meet project needs is expected.
